About Me
Parasol is a highly skilled theatre sound designer and sound engineer with a strong theoretical foundation and extensive hands-on experience. Her work spans multiple fields, including music, animation, games, and theatre. She has a deep interest in immersive sound and the operational dynamics of sound systems, constantly exploring new possibilities in the field. She has contributed to numerous critically acclaimed theatre productions, many of which have received five-star reviews.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Recording Arts from the Communication University of China and a Master’s degree in Sound Design from the University of Edinburgh. With her background in music and music theory, she brings a refined artistic and technical approach to sound design.
Since entering the live sound industry in 2019, she has worked as a lead sound engineer for events ranging from 100 to 1,500 attendees, ensuring high-quality sound experiences. Her journey in Scotland mainly started in 2023, she participated in "M*****classes: Sound Design ‘23" workshop at Stellar Quines, where she connected with leading industry professionals. In 2024, she was honored with a Framework "Year of Artist 2024" nomination, solidifying her influence in the field.
Currently based in Edinburgh, Parasol is dedicated to promoting Asian theatre culture and fostering cultural exchange between China and the UK through theatre and sound design. She is the founder of Mujian, an arts company committed to amplifying Asian voices in theatre and cross-cultural collaborations. —an experience that further inspired her pursuit of innovation in theatre sound.
